Safety in Delgado, El Salvador What do other Racers need to know in order to be safe? Current safety protocols/precautions in place? Any relevant issues/concerns? Any precautionary suggestions?
People’s Opinions
Safety in Delgado was somewhat dangerous. We stayed in a compound at a church called Iglesia Cristiana Timoteo and we could leave to go to the supermarket right next door in pairs of two but other than that we were not free to roam around because of gangs. Not in the safest area but out host Aldo was super sweet and took us all around El Salvador on our off days! Just be sure to go out in pairs of two and ask the host where is safe and not.

People’s Opinions
Ministry at Iglesia Cristiana Timoteo was cleaning the church in the morning and in the evenings we helped with the children’s bible class. We also went to pray for the sick at the hospital, did a few days of evangelism, and drove to a city on Tuesday’s to do a children’s program. Somewhat slow in the middle of the days but it allows you time to bond and connect with your teammates(:

Food was A LOT of pupusas. Like at least 4 nights a week, you will want a break from them after this month for sure. Food for breakfast was typically pretty small portions. It is convenient to have a supermarket next to you because you will probably want to get snacks.

El Tunco is super fun to go to, there are beautiful beaches all around El Salvador. Sal and Harold will take you to some fun places if you ask! Also pastor Aldo took us to the waterpark the last week for a fun little outing! The beach is super fun but PLEASE be cautious of the rip tide. VERY strong current and very dangerous when we were there.
