We lived on the compound at MFD so we were really safe. There are guards and it was in a gated area. When we were out in town, just made sure to stay in groups of at least 3 with a guy always with us. Wear backpacks on front if possible and keep a hand on things. In the city areas it would be easy to have things taken.
