  1. I always went in twos! But it felt safe enough to go on a run alone. I just was blessed with a running buddy! This is an awesome place to run too! If you run towards Indomaret then turn right down the road with the sign Sunrise Cliff theres some gravel roads that keep going and have some sweet look outs, that are sweet for morning runs! 🙂

People’s Opinions

  1. We stayed at somewhere called Phinisi Hostel. IT WAS AWESOME! Right on the ocean, lots of space for eating, or meeting as a team. The staff there was phenomenal. They did laundry there (we paid, but it was a good price), cooked real good meals that we often ordered, had hot and cold water for free, and let us use their kitchen to cook if we wanted to. They also helped us set up transportation back to Makassar and snorkeling on our adventure day! It was about half mile from an Indomaret and less than a mile from a strip of yummy restaurants, and Bira beach which is full of fun activities! We did have to drive/walk down something we referred to as trash road to get to it, if it looks slightly sketchy you’re probably going the right way. We didn’t swim in the water right outside the hostel because ya know, trash road, but Bira beach was perfect for swimming. We did walk the shores when the tide was low in the evening though it was beautiful!

  1. Getting to Bira, yikes. From Makassar we got a grab to Terminal Mallengkeri and just ask for a car to Bira. There are just random cars that take people there that hold up to 6 people, so it can be a squish with packs too. We were able to get one with 3 of us, and another random man plus the driver for 400,000 Rupiah. That is a fair price! Just a heads up, it is likely that the driver will smoke the majority of the 4-5 hour ride back, the car may or may not have air-conditioning, and if you easily get carsick prepare your hearts and dramamine. Theres a lot of stop & go in traffic, weaving in and out of cars, etc.
