People’s Opinions

  1. We were with the Robinsons. We partnered with a different church every week and did construction, attended their events, and did evangelism. Be prepared for the pastors and Christians there to have more of a “religious” approach to evangelism. They really hate sin, and get pretty worked up about it.
  2. Door to door evangelism, and relationship building. We did evangelism in different regions around brownstone then our last week we were able to go back and do follow ups.

People’s Opinions

  1. We stayed in an apartment-ish building owned by our hosts. It was brand new, but had several plumbing issues. There are 2 livable rooms, no kitchen. We used our hosts kitchen upstairs. It was cramped for 12 of us and all our stuff, so 5 ended up tenting outside. Cost was $4 a day per person.
  2. We stayed in a small house of a friend of the pastors. We had a shower and a flushing toilet. There were three rooms and one room had a bed everyone else slept on the floor. It was cramped but nice.

Transportation

Transportation in Brownstown, Jamaica
What transportation did you use to enter the country? Where were you coming from? What transportation was used to move throughout the country? Be sure to include the cost per person in USD and contact info if applicable.

People’s Opinions

  1. When taking local transportation for Adventure/Sabbath days, make sure you negotiate price BEFORE getting in a cab. Drivers can be rude and demanding, so just keep that in mind. We encountered many drivers that would drastically hike up the price because we were foreigners, so it may take a lot of back and forth before securing a fair price. The more confident you are, the quicker they will give you a fair price.
  2. Our host picked us up from the airport. To get to and from ministry, we had a bus driver. Long story short, transportation ended up being too expensive to go to ministry every week. We had to forgo one week of church ministry because it costed too much to get there.
