Food / Meals

There is a chef that attends this church, and at the pastors recommendation we paid Chef Lucas 500 shillings to cook us dinner every night. He is a GREAT cook and has even learned some western dishes! We went to the market with him twice a week for supplies. For breakfast we went to the local supermarket and bought food for several days at a time and for lunch that same supermarket (yako mart) has a cafeteria with good/cheap food (they even have a bakery that is pretty good!). We had $6pppd and that was plenty for us to eat on everyday.

Transportation

Most days we would walk to ministry or if it was a bit far we would take a boda boda (a bicycle) It cost 20 shillings to most anywhere in town you want to go. They always try to get 30+ shillings from you, but the local rate is only 20, so if you insist they will always go for 20.
