  1. Ohrid Lake Apartments – Somehow we got connected with the people here while doing unsung heroes. They are great apartments and we got it for our budget – $5 a day per person! There were 8 of us in two small separate apartments, each with it’s own balcony, kitchenette, and bathroom. 3 in one room and 5 in the other.   2. Villa Dudinka is a great place to stay if for any reason your team splits up and you are traveling in a smaller group. We were doing UH and as only three of us needed a place to stay we got a small studio which had three beds, bathroom and kitchenette. The owner is incredibly helpful and friendly. He made coffee for us, gave us suggestions for what to do around the city and even drove us to the bus station, than came back and drove us to another bus station when we realized we were at the wrong one.

  1. There are a few grocery stores. Kam is a great place for dry pantry items. They don’t have produce or any fresh foods. Ramstore is most expensive and is more expensive in ohrid than in other cities
  2. There are a few cheap,places to eat. The same bakeries found all over Macedonia are here as well.

  1. Although everything is within walking distance, we were driven from the bus station by the most extraordinary fella named Mr. Ivan. We lost the address of our villa/hostel but he knew where to go. The roads are tight and windy and most don’t even allow cars because homes and hostels are set on the hill… So get ready to have feel the burn. So Mr. Ivan even climbed up multiple hills and stairs to help us find our hostel. If you need a car, call him. He is a sweet angel. 077 712123

  1. There are boats on the lake that will drive you around for 30 min or an hour. We didn’t take one but someone did offer to take three of us for five euro total for an hour.
  2. Ohrid is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. There are plenty of free things to see. The most beautiful place is at the church St John. It is on a point by the lake… You can see it from town. It is a wonderful place to sit and gaze on Gods glory, spend time with Him. Go there around sunset and you will probably cry. It’s that beautiful
