People’s Opinions

  1. We served with Destiny Ministries and our host, Apostle Andrew, was awesome!!! He was so much fun. He exposed us to so many different kinds of ministries, and he was so good at coming alongside us and teaching us about things we had never done before. We did prison ministry, village evangelism/church planting, healing, lots of preaching, casting out demons/deliverance, Sunday school/youth ministry, women’s ministry…you name it, we probably did it. It’s such an awesome exposure to African and Malawin culture, and Andrew does an amazing job of being an ambassador for his ministry and his country. He taught us so much and we love him a lot!!

  1. Andrew arranged for us to rent a house with electricity, beds, running water, and a kitchen. The best part was probably the local woman, Liness, who stayed with us to translate, help us shop and cook, and just be our friend!!

People’s Opinions

  1. I was here back in February with D-Squad as part of team BraveHearts. We were Destiny Ministry’s first team. Transportation included walking, Apostle Andrew driving us places, and bike taxis, like tandems, only the second person doesn’t do anything but sit there on the seat. Apostle Andrew was awesome and drove to Cape Maclear to pick us up from debrif, and took us back to Cape Maclear for Ibada Africa and to meet up with the rest of the squad.

Medical

Information on local hospitals / doctors / pharmacies. Where would someone go in a medical emergency? (addresses and contact info).

People’s Opinions

  1. Honestly, I had to go for some infected mesquito bites, when I showed up to the clinic the doc wasn’t there, and they seemed to be out of supplies…Apostle Andrew was great though and how a local church member Charity who was a nurse come in and check up on us when we weren’t feeling well. Honestly, if you can help it, don’t got to the doc while there…if you can, say a big prayer before going.

Communication

Communication in Balaka, Malawi
Did you have cell reception / Internet service? Where? Carrier / Provider, where did you get phones / SIM cards, cost? Country code?

People’s Opinions

  1. Internet service involved going to the “internet cafe” where its like 10kwacha per minute, minimum 100kwacha fee. If you want to use your laptop you need to have a ether-net cord, otherwise be prepared to use their computers, which are not super fast and not always reliable.

  1. You should definitely arrange a trip to Mount Mulanje — it was such an incredible hike, and there’s a waterfall where you can swim and go cliff jumping!! It was such a blast. Check out Liwonde National Park, it’s only about an hour drive away. It is $10USD to get in and you can do a land safari through the park! It’s really fun and totally worth it.
